State-by-State Disclosures

HandyMandyMan is a technology platform that connects independent contractors with customers. We are not a contractor and we do not perform any work. Each contractor is solely responsible for their own work, licensing, insurance, and tax obligations.

California (CSLB Notice)

Under California law (Bus. & Prof. Code § 7048), any home improvement work where the labor and materials together exceed $500 must be performed by a contractor licensed by the California State License Board (CSLB).

  • HandyMandyMan only allows California pros without a CSLB license to bid jobs estimated under $500.
  • You can verify any contractor's CSLB license at cslb.ca.gov.
  • Hiring an unlicensed contractor for a job that legally requires a license may void your homeowner's insurance and is not protected by California's Contractors' State License Law.

Texas (TDLR / TSBPE Notice)

Texas does not require a state license for general handyman work. However:

  • Plumbing work must be performed by a plumber licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE).
  • Electrical and HVAC work must be performed by a contractor licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Verify any TDLR license at tdlr.texas.gov.

Florida (DBPR Notice)

Florida requires contractors performing structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or roofing work to be licensed through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

  • Handyman work valued under $1,000 in materials and labor and not involving structural changes is generally exempt — but local county rules vary.
  • Verify any DBPR license at myfloridalicense.com.

All states

HandyMandyMan does not warrant the work performed by any contractor on the platform. Always verify license status, insurance, and references before authorizing work. Funds held in escrow protect you against non-performance but cannot guarantee workmanship satisfaction beyond what is documented in our Refund Policy.
